About

A short note.

I’m fascinated by how goods and services scale, and by the mix of incentives, systems, people, and technology that allows a business to endure. The questions I keep coming back to: how decisions get made, how teams scale, and how strong systems can outperform heroic effort. My career has been in transportation and technology; the writing is where those questions get worked out.

I like working with ambitious teams on complex problems. I’m usually drawn to the space where business, product, and execution meet, whether the challenge is operational, strategic, or technical.

I also think a lot about the second- and third-order effects of what we build today. This site is a place to work through those ideas in writing, frameworks, and small experiments.

Outside of work, I’m usually with my wife, son, and our dog. I enjoy hiking, rugby, aviation, vintage cars, endurance training, and cooking. That usually means a multi-course meal for friends or something slow on the Traeger. I also like any excuse to build something from scratch.
